WESSEX WATER

  • Problem: 4” main with a high leakage rate of 4m³ /hr in a logistically challenged location under the river.

  • Traditional repairs were previously unsuccessful and logistically

Objectives

  • Minimal network downtime

  • Minimise disruption to surrounding environment and community 

Solution

Two technicians attended the site to operate the Origin No Dig® system. Within 2 hours the product was injected via the neighboring hydrant. The leak was repaired and the pipe was flushed, restoring normal service.  

Plymouth Leak Detection

  • Location – Plymouth

  • Problem – High water losses from non-visible leakage

Objectives

  • Identify points of interest

  • Assist South West Water in their reduction of non-revenue water

  • Improve operational efficiencies

Solution

Origin Orbit surveyed a 20 x 20km area using our patented satellite leak detection technology. Deploying one Origin leakage technician, 146 leaks were identifies and verified, totalling 1.8ML/D water savings, averaging 5 leaks per day.

Aqueduct Repair

  • Location – Nine Wells Aqueduct

  • Problem – Historic ongoing leakage reducing supply to treatment plant

Objectives

  • Survey aqueduct

  • Identify problematic sections of the aqueduct

  • Assess nature of repairs required

  • Minimal disruption to the network

Solution

During a 2 week working period, across 300m section of the aqueduct, 2 Origin Technician’s identified and repaired 80 leaks and joint failures using Origin No Dig® product under live conditions. This work was carried out through a period of drought, therefore it was imperative to not restrict water supply.

Severn Trent

  • Problem – Communication pipe leakage on Severn Trent’s water network

Objectives

  • Identify leaking pipework suitable for Origin No Dig® repair

  • Successfully deploy Origin No Dig®

  • Reduce non-revenue water

Solution

During a 30 day working period, using Origin No Dig®, 4 technicians successfully repaired 364 leaking comm pipes across their network, conserving over 5 ML/D of potable water. Consequently delivering cost savings totalling £448,000 over traditional repair methods.

Godstone sinkhole

  • Location – Godstone

  • Problem – In February 2025, a 20m wide sinkhole appears in residential housing area.

Objectives

  • Identify potential causes of the sinkhole

  • Provide insight to prevent future sinkholes

  • Develop learning into regional environmental peculiarities

Solution

Origin geospatial technicians used a combination of satellite radar, GIS and soil signature data to assess ground stability and cavities, providing valuable insights into both the sinkhole and surrounding areas. Findings were drawn into a detailed technical report that was submitted to Sutton and East Surrey Water.
